Tradition since 1939 – a passion for the art of confectionery
The history of the establishment began on 1 August 1939, when Hermann and Alwine Lindtner, newlyweds, opened their first patisserie on Meßberg in Hamburg city centre. The exquisite cakes, tarts and pralines immediately appealed to the tastes of Hamburg's residents – and business flourished. However, just a few years later, bombs dropped during the Second World War completely destroyed the patisserie and bakery.
After the war, the couple made a new start in Hamburg's Eppendorf district, on Eppendorfer Landstraße. They wanted to create a classic-style café with top-class décor and quality. This has remained the case to this day. Continuous modernisation in the technical area and careful adaptation to today's needs have never detracted from the charm of the dining rooms and their popularity with young and old alike.
A family business with tradition
The founding couple took a big step in 1950 with the construction of the Lindtner hotel restaurant in Heimfeld. Exactly 99 days passed between the laying of the foundation stone and the opening.
Three daughters, Heidrun, Brunhild and Korri, who now run the business together, were born in the meantime. In the years and decades that followed, the people of Harburg flocked to the hotel on the Black Mountains to enjoy food and drink, music and dancing. Girls and boys celebrated their graduation balls here in the Great Hall.
Das Lindtner has always been a popular venue for school graduation parties, wedding celebrations and anniversaries. The Harburg Shooting Guild of 1528 has its headquarters here. For many guests, the house with its still private atmosphere has become a second home.
